Testimonials

Nzingha West is a wonderful teacher with an arsenal of effective techniques for helping young children learn to read. Her warmth and charming manner engender her students’ admiration and affection. Beyond her superlative pedagogical knowledge, Ms. West is intimately acquainted with the legal steps involved in securing for her pupils all relevant academic support from the school system. This peerless combination of educational and administrative expertise makes her a powerful advocate for the children she represents. I give her my highest recommendation.

Hi Nzingha,

I just wanted to write you to say thank you. After Nathaniel worked with you he felt so much better about himself in school. His teachers and everyone were so happy to see how much he improved. His reading level literally jumped from an E to a N in 6 weeks. You really are a great teacher. We appreciate all of the work you did to make sure his IEP was the best it could be. We really needed more speech services, because as you already know, his speech was starting to decline. Just thank you. We appreciate it more than you know.

Nzingha I am so proud to hear you have written a book. We were one of the couples who said you really should do it. Any person in their right mind, no matter what color, sex, educational background whatever should be working with you. You are one of the most intuitive people we know and we are happy to make sure everyone knows that.

And just for anyone reading, we started working with Nzingha in March of 2010 for her reading class which is ridiculously affordable by the way. Our son, in 10 weeks literally went up 4 levels. That may not seem like a lot, but he was seeing the reading recovery tutor, seeing a tutor and they were considering him for special education. When we came to Nzingha she jumped him 4 levels in less than 3 months when he hadn’t moved 1 level in an entire school year. She tested him for ADHD (he has it), she came to the meetings and got him the help and now his reading level is steadily improving.

My Corey started to see results in just 2 weeks. I could see the change in him. I sent over two other parents, I hope they get the chance to work with you.

Hi Nzingha,

I just wanted to send you an update on Hannah since consulting with you for her IEP. For one, she got the services she needed, and the ones we were fighting for for months since this whole IEP mess started. She got the speech and aba and has been working with a speech therapist and aba therapist for the past 6 weeks. We are happy and are seeing progress. I have to say, we would have never been able to pay out of pocket for the frequency that she is seeing these people. Living in a different state really didn’t matter, you made it happen and I think that is most important. You were well worth the money to make sure she got what she needed without any major costs or arguing with our insurance company.

We really appreciate your help.

I just want to say that it was a complete pain in the ass to switch our son from one school to another with and IEP and a 504 plan. I just wanted to scream every day. Nevertheless I came across your site, began working with you and a month later he is in school getting the services he was getting previously. You are the best advocate, hands down. We love you Nzingha. You were so great to work with. My wife is always saying “ what would we have done if we didn’t meet her on a whim”? I think just continue to be frustrated.
- Wade Johnson

It’s amazing how much you can save by spending a little money and hiring a professional. You got this done quickly and now we can actually communicate with our child. Thanks for being one of the best teachers she ever had.
- Melanie Snead

There are some things you can do yourself, like advocate for your own child. But whenever I went to the meetings I felt like I was always screaming, or upset or begging because I didn’t really know the rights I had. We got a referral from Wade and seriously, you really are good. Keep up the good work Nzingha. Families need you!

We had the most violent and stubborn child anyone could imagine having. I don’t know where you get the patience from, let alone the stamina. My wife and I were sad to see you leave. Bless you, and bless anything you touch. I have referred 2 people to you, both of which have become clients and I was happy to see you take them on. I don’t want to make this long and drawn out, but I know how important positive reviews are about programs like this, as a parent you are putting your money, trust and hope into a person praying that your child will improve. You can definitely use me as a reference. My email is: d.keenan11215@gmail.com

I am so happy that I decided to go with you Nzingha. You really do provide a stellar service, and the fact that your methods really work, is only the icing on the cake. Jaycee’s teacher could not believe how far she had come in 6 weeks, and we have you to thank for it. I will admit that when you suggested taking her out of school for 3 hours a day I was EXTREMELY apprehensive, but when I thought about the fact that she was “promotion in doubt” and behind her classmates by 5 reading levels, I thought what the hell, shes already failing, and I need to do something now!
You came to my home, changed my child’s life and I don’t know what else I can say to you but THANK YOU! Thank you.
P.S. and by the way, if you ever need a reference, or if any other parents have questions about your program, I am offering up my email address (jayceesmommelody@yahoo.com) so they can contact me directly.

If no one would have told me, I would have signed my kid up for Kaplan. I was happy to know that you were able to come into my home and you had materials (technology, worksheets, computer programs, headphones) that the large tutoring chain didn’t even supply. The free diagnostic Gibson test was enough for me to sign her up and we still use the subscription to Brain Child. You are good.
- Richard Schmidt, Parent of 7 year old ADD Student

Nzingha, I thank you, I don’t have a million words, but he is reading, confidently and thats all I wanted. You did that!

I was glad to see that you were incorporating technology, games and traditional instruction into your sessions. My son looks forward to seeing you and he said that the snacks you offer are really good too.
- Janice, Mother of a 11 year old ADHD student

I was really thankful for the handouts and the free Brain Child subscription we still use it.
- Kelly R., Parent of 7 year old ADD

I would’ve paid you 1 million dollars if I had it, I was happy that the classes were within my budget, we’ve made friends with other parents going through the same thing as us. You’ve been a catalyst for many dinners and new friends. My son is a shining star now, his teacher is in love with you and you’ve never met. Thanks a BILLION.
- Jonathan and Orla McDonald

Sitting in on one of your classes made me see what all the hoopla was about. You really are a wonderful instructor. My twins love you.

When my daughter first began taking your classes, I didn’t see the immediate change I expected, so I took her out of your lessons, that was the dumbest thing I have ever done. I then enrolled her into Sylvan Learning Centers and she actually regressed. I then decided that sometimes bigger isn’t always better. She is improving slowly but surely. I like that you are honest and you are always informative. I love that, she isn’t a little fish in a big pond.

I thought Kaplan or Sylvan might be my best bet because they are so well known and when I saw they didn’t have any real help for learning disabled kids I was lost. My wife and I both laugh because if we hadn’t done an internet search we would’ve never found you. Honestly, I think we chose you because you offered financing that was easy to get and easy to pay for. No other private tutor offered that, and Kaplan wanted $6,300 dollars just for reading tutoring. It’s good to see you get the point, fix the problem with understanding, and everything else is easy. By the way she has improved from a level 1 in reading to a level 3.

I’m just sorry I waited so long to enroll him. I recommend you to anyone I know going through what I was going through.
- Bijal S.

I just wanted to let you know what an enormous difference you’ve made in my son’s life. His whole demeanor has changed. He is more outgoing, he is alot less angry and frustrated and for the first time since he could walk people have been calling him well behaved.
- Paul Sarcosa, Parent of 7 year old ADHD student

I was referred to you by Angel Acevedo and at first I didn’t believe. I believe now, I know that I can afford to help my child. Other places didn’t offer quality and price. I have tears in my eyes telling you this, just thanks.
